Guangxi's economy from 2019 to 2020
New driving forces form economic growth points. In 2019, multiple factors such as the slowdown of global economic growth, the adverse impact of Sino-US trade friction, and sluggish market demand resulted in a decline in automobile production and sales in Guangxi's backbone industries, a decrease in the prices of key industrial products such as refined oil and steel, and severe damage to animal husbandry production, leading to sustained upward pressure on economic operation. At the same time, new driving forces in Guangxi are showing faster growth. Lu Xinshe, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee, introduced that the actual number of market entities and newly built and put into production "four-above" units in the region have grown rapidly, with more than 20 industrial projects with an investment of over 10 billion yuan under construction and newly started, a significant increase compared to last year, and new driving forces are continuing to accumulate. Chen Wu, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, also revealed that since this year, new industries in Guangxi have accelerated their growth, with a number of "double hundred double new" and "thousand enterprises technical transformation" industrial projects completed and put into production, new products such as new energy vehicles and smart televisions have experienced exponential growth, new market entities have rapidly increased, and innovation in industries such as big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet+ has accelerated. With the continuous emergence of new formats, the scale effect of the digital economy has become apparent. Regarding the development in 2020, Lu Xinshe emphasized at the meeting that we should persist in taking the cultivation of new driving forces as the main direction, make good use of national industrial and investment and financing policies, strengthen project support, and expand effective investment. We will tap new driving forces in accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional advantageous industries, foster new driving forces in developing new technologies, new industries, new formats, and new models, deeply implement the innovation-driven development strategy, use innovation to strongly support high-quality industrial development, and accelerate the formation of more advanced production capacity and new economic growth points. Precisely undertake and promote "Eastward Integration." Guangxi is adjacent to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and is the direct hinterland of the Greater Bay Area, with broad space for cooperation with the Greater Bay Area. Accelerating "Eastward Integration" will help promote the integrated industrial development of Guangxi and the Greater Bay Area and promote industrial optimization and upgrading. To this end, the person in charge of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Industry and Information Technology Department introduced that Guangxi will base itself on its resource advantages and industrial foundation, accurately undertake the transfer of light industries from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, focusing on developing light industries such as furniture panels, textiles and clothing, household appliances, and hardware and plumbing, increase the pace of cooperation in the Guangdong-Guangxi cooperation industrial park, promote the overall transfer of industrial clusters and chains, strengthen industrial cooperation with developed eastern regions and provinces along the western land-sea new passage, focusing on undertaking characteristic light industries such as daily chemicals and silk processing, and accelerating characteristic transfers. In addition, Guangxi will also accelerate the clearing of inter-provincial "dead-end roads," start construction of the South Shenzhen High-speed Railway (Yulin to Shenzhen section), promote the construction of highways such as Hezhou to Lianshan and Pubai to Xinyi, refine the matters of paired cooperation in industrial transfer between the two provinces and regions, formulate an implementation plan and supporting policies for undertaking the industrial transfer from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promote the implementation of cooperative projects with Vanke, Huawei, and other companies, and strengthen planning coordination with the Greater Bay Area in transportation, industry, and ecology.
